As a professor of forest biometrics, Andrew Finley focuses on measuring and monitoring forests to better inform us of environmental changes. In the upcoming months, he will be at BOKU University to improve ways of modeling forests and other natural environments using statistics and different field measuring techniques.

The in-person interactions with university faculty and students will be a welcome change after years of collaborative work entirely online. Learn more about Dr. Finley’s work in his recent faculty voice.

Reality is setting in for our newest Spartans living in China! 🇨🇳💚

Recently, MSU staff and faculty from OISS and the Asia Hub traveled to Shanghai for our annual Pre-Departure event. This special gathering gives incoming international students and their families a chance to connect face-to-face, ask questions and learn how to best acclimate to life in East Lansing before their big move in August. ✈️

Rui Liu, student engagement coordinator in the Asia Hub, shared that it was a fantastic turnout! Roughly 100 students and family members attended. A huge thank you to the eight alumni and eight current students who also joined to share their insights and personal experiences during panel discussions and breakout sessions. 🫶

We are so proud of our global community and can’t wait to see our newest on campus next month!

Drop a 💚 in the comments to welcome the incoming class to the Spartan family!
