Four members of our community are taking on special roles during this year’s celebrations:

• Ross Chowles, ComArtSci faculty member, will serve as a judge for the Homecoming parade.

What started as curiosity led ComArtSci alumna Morgan van den Berg to an award-winning master’s thesis, which earned her the Institute for Public Relations’ The Grossman Group 2026 Master’s Thesis of the Year Award.

For her thesis, Morgan interviewed 38 strategic communicators to explore how they navigate difficult conversations about generative AI at work, including concerns about creativity, competence, judgment and professional value.

Her biggest takeaway? Communication’s greatest power is creating relationships and spaces that allow people to learn from one another.

What does it take to turn a passion for gaming into an award-winning project? 🎮

ComArtSci’s undergraduate and graduate video game design programs are ranked No. 1 in the Midwest by The Princeton Review, giving students opportunities to develop their skills through hands-on game design experiences.

Earlier this year, a team of ComArtSci students put those skills to work with Dimlits, an original multiplayer fantasy game that earned second place in the Michigan Games Entrepreneurship Race.
