Quilt Index The Quilt Index is a project of Matrix at Michigan State University

The Quilt Index is a research platform and laboratory built around an international digital library of a massive and continually expanding collection of thematic material culture digital photographs, texts (oral, video, and written), and documents. The Quilt Index aims to provide digital preservation of and searchable access to quilts, stories about quilts and their makers, and to related quilt history resources and to serve as a basis for a wide range of scientific, humanistic, scholarly, educational, and artistic investigations and applications.

Paris landed in Minneapolis earlier this month. Mia’s touring exhibit of 80 haute couture masterpieces from the Palais Galliera gives Minnesotans a taste of high fashion. I saw it and took pictures of two wedding dresses of interest to the Quilt community.

Kahili Me Ka Peahi A Me Ka Lei Huapala O Queen Emma which, according to Google translate means Royal Emblem of Queen Emma. Queen Emma was the wife of King Kamehameha IV and reigned from 1856-1863. The October theme is orange. Imagine my surprise when searching for orange quilts to come across so many orange quilts from the Hawaiian Quilt Research Project, https://quiltindex.org/results/?qproject=Hawaiian%20Quilt%20Research%20Project&search=quilts&predom_color=Orange&search=quilts&overall_color=Two%20color&search=quilts&. This search was created by going to the SEARCH>QUILTS page, https://quiltindex.org/search/quilts/ and choosing: "Hawaiian Quilt Research Project from the PROJECT/COLLECTION box; "Orange" from the COLORS Select/search color(s) box; and "Two color" from the Select/search overalll color(s) box; then hit the Blue Search botton at the bottom of the page.
