Game on! 💪 Andrew and I are officially ready for the MSU Deans’ Co****le Challenge. We even got a few pointers from Coach Tom Izzo alongside Dean Joyce DeJong and her student partner, Mehdi, from Osteopathic Medicine!

Be there on October 10 to catch 16 MSU deans and their student partners compete for Spartan pride and bragging rights. Andrew and I are ready to put our game plan to work, so come cheer us on! Because we all know... vet med is the best med! 💚🐾

Marquette was yesterday, and tomorrow, Traverse City. Can't wait to meet more of our Michigan veterinary community!

Last week, we celebrated the launch of our Community Medicine Program.

So far, the unit has traveled more than 2,000 miles across Michigan and has performed more than 100 spay/neuter procedures at 13 organizations. With only a few weeks under its belt, the program is already helping underserved areas, and I’m so excited to see what’s next for the program and its wonderful team.

This past Friday, I had the privilege of catching the end of Dr. Sue Ewart’s final lecture in the Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences.

Alongside Dr. Steve Carey, incoming Associate Dean for Student Engagement and Success, I watched Sue work her magic in Respiratory I. When she tried to wrap up the Kahoot! review, the students responded with a collective, “No—just a few more questions!” And then came a standing ovation. 👏

Sue is a model of intellectual rigor, endless curiosity, and a genuine investment in people—mentoring countless students across the College of Veterinary Medicine. Her impact will continue to shape this community for years to come.

Thank you, Sue, for the countless ways you’ve invested in our students, our college, and our community. You’ve made us better. 💚🤍
