UCO Community Engagement Connect. Serve. Impact

The Office of Community Engagement empowers students to become active citizens and develop a responsibility toward community through service and volunteerism; community partnerships and connections; intentional learning opportunities; and, a focus on civic engagement and critical societal issues. Through involvement and participation in Community Engagement’s programs, leadership opportunities and student-led events, UCO students have the opportunity to give back to and invest in their community on a variety of levels. Outside of the programs and events hosted by Community Engagement, our office supports UCO students, faculty and staff in their efforts to engage themselves in their community through:
On- and Off-Campus Volunteer Opportunities
Faculty Support for Service Learning Partnerships and Projects
Service Hour Tracking and Records
Services and Resources

Welcome back Bronchos, we hope everyone had a great Fall Break!

Several of our students spent a few days of their vacation participating in our Alternative Fall Break opportunity!

We were able to first serve at Citizens Caring for Children and helped with sorting donations, tagging items, making cards, and rotating out items to help prep their clothing closet for the colder months.

On the second day we went to Pivot Inc. where we had the privilege of helping clean their food pantry and reorganizing their pantry storage, as well as receive a full campus tour and thoughtful education on youth facing housing insecurity.

Thank you to our volunteers, we had such a great time spending Fall Break with you and look forward to our next Alternative trip!

Today, UCO Community Engagement had the opportunity to partner with the Native American Student Association (NASA) at the First Americans Museum for Oklahoma City’s Indigenous Peoples’ Day celebration!

Our students spent the day giving back by helping monitor the chalk mural contest, exploring the museum, and celebrating the rich cultures, histories, and traditions of Native and Indigenous communities.

We also had the opportunity to witness a historic moment as Oklahoma City celebrated its official designation of the second Monday in October as Indigenous Peoples’ Day!

A huge thank you to the First Americans Museum, NASA, and everyone who helped make this meaningful day of service, learning, and celebration possible!
