University of Central Oklahoma Speech and Debate University of Central Oklahoma's competitive speech and debate team. Welcome to the the page for the UCO debate team.

We are excited for this upcoming debate season and our return NDT/CEDA debate circuit. We offer students the chance to earn scholarships, travel the country, and engage in rigorous critical thinking. If you are interested in joining the debate team please contact the Director of Debate, Matthew Moore, at [email protected]. We will be competing at the following tournaments this fall:

The resolution for this year is:
Resolved: The United States Federal Government should substantially increase its democracy assistance for one or more of the following: Bahrain, Egypt, Libya, Syria, Tunisia, Yemen.

The Bronchos competed at the Cameron University Christmas Classic speech tournament this past weekend.

Four first-year students made the short trip to Lawton to compete at the two-day event and we brought back some awards!

Kayleona Hill (English) took 1st place in Impromptu and 3rd Place in Dramatic Interpretation while Thalia Henry (Political Science) earned 3rd place in Persuasive.

The squad also earned Top Oklahoma School.

We had a great turn out last night! In coordination with the Department of Political Science and Civic Slices, we hosted more than 60 undergraduate students at a Presidential Debate Watch Party.

We also registered several students to vote.

Thanks to everyone for coming out and we hope to see you again at our VP Debate Watch Party on October 1st!

We just got home from Lincoln. Cecilia Alali finished in the semifinals (top 12 in the nation) of Prose. Jacob Shults finished in the quarterfinals (top 25 in the nation) in Poetry. Combined the earned the school 5th place in the Select Sweepstakes Category!
