Please join us in welcoming Darby Cassaday to the University of Central Oklahoma as our new director of bands!

A respected music educator, conductor and arts leader, Cassaday brings decades of experience building outstanding band programs, recruiting student musicians and creating meaningful partnerships with schools and communities across Oklahoma.

In this role, he will oversee the university’s band program, including the Stampede of Sound marching band, conduct the UCO Wind Symphony, teach conducting courses and collaborate with the music education area.

UCO Bands has a proud tradition of artistic excellence and community connection, and Cassaday is ready to build on it.

"I look forward to working alongside our students, faculty, alumni and community partners to honor that legacy by advancing artistic excellence, student success and community partnerships," Cassaday said.

Welcome to the Broncho Arts family, Darby — we can't wait to see where you take UCO Bands next! 💙💛

Channel 9 featured Dr. Brian Lamb ahead of Saturday's farewell concert, and it's worth a watch. After 25 years leading UCO's Wind Symphony — and 37 years in music education — Dr. Lamb steps down with one final performance. Former students are traveling from across the country to be in the audience, and some are joining him on stage.

Congrats to Jimmy Miller and Trever Spruill, who were selected to present their research at the National Conference for Undergraduate Research on April 12-15 in Richmond, Virginia! The two UCO students were among only nine undergraduate students in the nation who presented musicological research at the conference.

Thanks also to Dr. Danielle Herrington, who was Trever and Jimmy's research mentor and accompanied to the conference.
