Gidley’s new Living Schoolyard is here 🌱
At last night’s Back-to-School Night, Gidley unveiled their new outdoor learning spaces on campus as part of their Living Schoolyard project. Gidley was the last of three schools that received a CalFire Grant to renovate their school with more trees, natural learning environments, and cooling spaces.
WHAT’S NEW AT GIDLEY:
🌳 79 new trees across 4.5 acres of transformed campus
📚Five outdoor classrooms with native gardens and stormwater features
😎Shaded seating for families
👟Tree-lined walking loop around half of the play field
We want to thank everyone who made this possible, including our Board of Education for prioritizing learning beyond our classrooms. Thank you to our partners at ActiveSGV and Trust for Public Land for leading our school communities on this journey.
We also want to thank Gidley students, staff, and families for their input as we made these changes a reality.
And lastly, shoutout to our maintenance, facilities, purchasing, and accounting teams who worked all summer to ensure the project was ready for students this week 🫶
