Happy Tuesday, CHS Miners! ⛏️ Let’s raise our picks for the CLS Program. The seniors turned out big this past weekend at their first community outreach event. Way to represent 💪🧡💙

The CLS seniors’ first health fair at First Baptist Church was a success! 🩸✨ We were honored and very eager to serve our community by providing free screenings for hematocrit, glucose, cholesterol, urinalysis, blood pressure, BMI, and more. Thank you to First Baptist Church for welcoming us and providing food for everyone. We’re grateful for the opportunity to help patients and make a positive impact!

Happy Friday, CHS Miners! ⛏️ We’re closing out the semester with a “retro rewind” video shared by the Clinical Laboratory Science Program. What’s better than dancing to celebrate the official end of the semester? 😎

This actually took place during their annual Lab Week celebration held earlier this semester. They really know how to have fun 🤩 🧡💙

CHS Miners, let’s raise our picks for Fakrul Islam, a student in the 2024 cohort of the Interdisciplinary Health Sciences PhD Program (faculty mentor: Dr. Hyejin Jung). Fakrul presented his research at the Southwestern Social Science Association meeting in Nashville in mid-April. Fakrul also received a Pascal Ngoboka Student Travel Grant to support his travel costs.

We'd also like to recognize two additional PhD students, Dr. Alyssa Martinez (recent spring graduate) and Michelle Gil, who presented their posters at the Society for Behavioral Medicine conference in late April in Chicago, Illinois. Both students are mentored by Dr. Gabriel Frietze, who is pictured with Michelle and Alyssa.

Congratulations, Fakrul, Alyssa, and Michelle! 🎉🧡💙

Happy Thursday, CHS Miners! ⛏ Yesterday afternoon, our Dean's Office student team joined Carla Rosete, Director of Operations and Community Outreach, at EPISD's Career & Technical Education 4th annual Health Expo and Hiring Fair for current high school students. Our students are excellent advocates for our college, describing the benefits of pursuing careers in health care. We hope to see some of these talented young people on campus as future CHS Miners soon 🧡💙
