Area 12 Workshop at Eastwood Middle School on June 24 was a success! 🎉

We had a great day of professional development for PE and Health teachers with fun, engaging activities and presentations.

Huge thanks to Ms. Ana Cisneros, our UTEP PETE students Madisyn McMillan, Ryan Estrada, and Israel Garcia, our presenters, alumni, and TAHPERD President Anne Daily for helping make it a great event! 🙌🏽🏫🏐

Congratulations to Ana, PhD student in Dr. Jang’s lab, for presenting her research at ACSM, one of the biggest conferences in the field of kinesiology and sports medicine! 🎉

Her project explored how AI can be used to help diagnose chronic ankle instability using a minimal amount of data, highlighting an innovative and efficient approach to clinical assessment.

During her 1.5-hour poster session, Ana received strong interest from many attendees and did an excellent job presenting and discussing her work.

We are proud to see her represent our program at the national level and showcase the exciting research happening in our department.

Well done, Ana, and congratulations on an outstanding presentation! 👏

🎉 Congratulations to David Nava on successfully defending his Master’s thesis!

David completed both his undergraduate and Master’s work in Dr. Jang’s lab, where he has contributed to research over the past two years. His next journey will take him to the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee, where he will begin a fully funded PhD program.

Congratulations, David! This is well deserved, and we wish you the very best of luck in this exciting next chapter! 👏

The shoulder: one of the most mobile (and problematic 😅) joints in human movement… but definitely the most fun to learn hands-on!
