Yesterday, we had the great pleasure of welcoming our next Texas Governor to campus, Gina Hinojosa! We thank Gina for caring not only about our vote, but about our entire community. It was inspiring to watch her connect with students, address their concerns, and build confidence in the future of Texas.

A huge thank you to all the students who took the time to attend and show their support because it wouldn’t be possible without them. We look forward to hosting more events like this!

America is not a country of the cowardly. We are a country built by the immigrant, the refugee, the enslaved and all those who rose in the resistance.

Today we celebrate the anniversary of the United States Independence day.

This date is not only a holiday but a reminder that we fought for a country with freedom and democracy that doesn’t stand from external control and colonial rule.

This past weekend Anna and Danna, two of our board members, had the opportunity to attend the Texas Democratic Party Convention at Corpus Christi! 🏖️

We had so much fun getting to meet such amazing, strong candidates and elected officials. We also had the opportunity to see amazing keynote speakers such as Bernie Sanders, Dolores Huerta, James Talarico, Gina Hinojosa and many more!

Congratulations to our Chairman Michael Apodaca for getting elected for State Treasurer!

Thank you for such an amazing convention and special thanks to to help us make this happen!

To understand the significance of Juneteenth, we must be courageous in facing the truth about slavery in America, the anti-Black racism that it spawned and perpetuated, and the resulting racial and economic injustice that persist over 160 years later.

While today we celebrate the fight for freedom and justice, today also serves as a reminder that our work is far from over.
