Revathi Kumar and located in Ellicott City, MD. We take pride in training our students to become confident and passionate dancers. Bharatha Natyam is one of the seven classical dance traditions of India, originating several centuries ago in the temples of South India. It touches dancer and audience by incorporating three fundamental human pleasures— the bliss of music, the delight of rhythm and th

e enchantment of storytelling. Bharatha Natyam incorporates three fundamental aspects. The first is Nritta—pure dance with footwork that showcases different rhythmic patterns. The second aspect is Nritya, in which a dancer renders the lyrics of a song using facial expressions and hand gestures. In the third aspect, Natya, the dancer acts out a story by portraying various characters. Students have performed at several fundraiser events benefiting ATMA, Murugan Temple, Rotary Club, 9/11 victims, tsunami victims, the University of Maryland Center for Celiac Research, and the Howard County Arts Councils. Recognized by numerous awards at the India Forum, AIA, UMBC and Howard County Battle of the Dance competitions, Abinaya Natya Sala’s dancers are very highly regarded and sought after by the community for their dedication, enthusiasm and excellence, and have earned special invitations from Howard County public schools to perform at their international festivals.
