Hi! I’m Sara, and I’m so excited to continue serving as the Nursing Department Communications Student Intern! ❤️💛

Over the past year, I’ve loved getting to work behind the scenes of Elon Nursing’s social media — capturing what’s happening in and out of the classroom, highlighting our incredible students and faculty, creating content, and sharing all the moments that make our nursing community so special. 📸🩺

From clinicals and class activities to student spotlights, events, celebrations, and everything in between, one of my favorite parts of this role is getting to showcase what life at Elon Nursing is really like!

I’m looking forward to another year of sharing all things Elon Nursing and celebrating the people who make this community what it is. ❤️💛

🌟 Externship Spotlight: Ryan Price 🌟

This summer, Ryan Price is completing his externship in the Emergency Department at Duke Regional Hospital.

Ryan shares, “I had the incredible opportunity to work at the Duke Regional ED and learned so much each and every day. Because each patient we saw almost always had something different than the previous patient, it was important to always keep an eye out for dangerous conditions while still remaining calm and keeping a clear head. This experience will not only make me a better nurse, but it has also expanded my pool of knowledge that was first established at Elon!”

🎓 New Grad Spotlight: Caroline McCormic 🎓

Congratulations to Caroline McCormic on beginning her nursing career as a registered nurse in the Medical Progressive Care Unit at Duke University Hospital!

Caroline shares, “I will be a registered nurse taking care of high acuity patients. I will be working toward earning my certification to become a critical care nurse with hopes of becoming part of a rapid response team. Elon University has transformed the way I view healthcare and my role as a nurse. This program has inspired me to become a lifelong learner and a leader who is committed to improving health outcomes and making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.”

🌟 Externship Spotlight: Kaitlyn Raleigh 🌟

This summer, Kaitlyn Raleigh is completing her externship on the Heart Failure/LVAD Unit at Hackensack University Medical Center.

Kaitlyn shares, “I’m completing my externship on the Heart Failure Unit, where I’m gaining hands-on experience caring for patients with heart failure. I have the opportunity to care for patients with LVADs and other advanced cardiac devices. Elon Nursing has given me the clinical foundation and confidence to understand the medications, procedures, devices, and conditions associated with heart failure.”

This summer, Iliana Pardo is working as a Professional Nursing Assistant (PNA) on the Hematology/Oncology Unit at Duke University.

Iliana shares, “This opportunity represents an important step in my journey toward a career in nursing. I’m incredibly thankful for the chance to learn from such a talented and compassionate team while gaining hands-on experience caring for patients and supporting their families during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. I am especially thankful for Elon University Nursing for providing me with a strong clinical foundation and preparing me to step confidently into this role while continuing to grow into the nurse I aspire to become.”

🎓 New Grad Spotlight: Gabi Carlson 🎓

Congratulations to Gabi Carlson on beginning her nursing career at Vanderbilt University Medical Center!

Gabi will be joining VUMC’s New Graduate Residency Program as a registered nurse on the 8N Ortho Trauma/Surgery Unit. During her time at Elon, she served as a lead tour guide for the nursing program, sharing everything she loved about Elon Nursing with prospective students and their families.

Gabi shares, “Elon Nursing has prepared me to be a compassionate critical thinker. The support and guidance of the amazing professors and staff really allowed me to thrive at Elon and pushed me to reach all of my goals. I am very grateful to have had such incredible teachers and learning opportunities these past few years, and because of them, I know I’m ready to be an RN!”

We are so proud of you, Gabi, and can’t wait to see the incredible impact you’ll make as you begin your nursing career. Congratulations! ❤️💛
