Meet Rocco!
What’s the most significant thing you’ve learned?
How to manage challenges with discipline and perseverance, communicate and collaborate with others, and take responsibility for my own academic and personal growth.
Who at Elon were your mentors that had the biggest impact on you and why?
Choosing to attend Elon was largely influenced by Dr. Linda Niedziela, whose mentorship & support have shaped my academic experience over the last four years. Dr. Antonio Izzo taught me that resilience in research is not just about enduring difficult moments but learning how to embrace and even enjoy the challenges that come with them. Dr. Amanda Tapler gave me the confidence and experience to apply my skills in a global context and how to adapt myself to one as well. I could always count on Dr. Rivera-Serrano for moral support and guidance whenever I needed it. Hillary Zaken helped me develop valuable planning skills and gave me opportunities to explore interests beyond academics in ways that were fun, memorable and strengthened my friendships. Dr. Michael Carnigan helped strengthen my analytical skills and encouraged me to see connections between different intellectual pursuits and how to appreciate them more fully.
