A big welcome to our newest faculty member - Dr. Aditi Vyas! She is originally from India and has been in the US for about 16 years. She earned her PhD from Ohio University and received post doctoral trainings at City of Hope Medical Center and the Claremont Colleges, where she was Visiting faculty.
From Dr Vyas - "I am very excited to be at Elon now, and I look forward to teaching as well as collaborating with the faculty and students here to develop my research project! In my research I use fission yeast (the lesser-known-but-just-as-cool cousin of budding yeast) as a model system to help identify the genes involved in deregulating cell division and response to anti-cancer drugs. I spend most of my time outside of work with my dog exploring the area or eating good food with my friends/family. I also love escape rooms, watching good TV or reading fiction (classics, science fiction, fantasy, cozy murder mysteries, philosophical fiction, gothic horror etc.). If you have any good recommendations, please share as I am always looking for more!"
