The Elon Center for Environmental Studies is directed by Dr. Janet S. The Elon Environmental Center at Loy Farm demonstrates the integration of food andnatural systems with the built environment. Loy Farm plays host to a number of Environmental Studies classes. In addition, its activities and functions include food and farming systems, the Design Build Studio for Responsible Architecture, the Pied

The Community Garden is run by Michael Strickland’s Garden Studio Class. Its goal is to foster engaged learning about organic gardening, heritage foodways and sustainable practices. Students maintain both personal plots and communal vegetable and herb beds during the semester, and Elon students, faculty, staff and community members are welcome to attend workdays and volunteer at the garden whenever they wish.
