Did you know that Elon has over 20 alumni currently performing on Broadway??

This year's fall musical, "Come From Away," tells the true story of 7,000 airline passengers stranded in Gander, Newfoundland, after U.S. airspace closed on Sept. 11, 2001. Director of the show and assistant professor of music theater, Jacob Brent, said the creators of the musical, Irene Sankoff and David Hein, based the musical on real-life interviews they conducted with the stranded passengers and locals in Gander. Many lines and song lyrics in the show are the exact words spoken by real people, and Elon University is one of the first universities to acquire the rights to this show!

Performances will run in McCrary Theatre from Oct. 30 to Nov. 7. and tickets are available on ElonTickets.com. Encourage your student to come see the show!

The Festival of Lights and Luminaries is just around the corner on Tuesday, Dec. 1! One of Elon's most cherished traditions, the Festival of Lights and Luminaries fosters community, connection, and joy!

Last week, "radical street librarian" Storybook Maze showcased the past, present, and future of book barriers to the Elon community. As someone who works day in and out to improve access to literary resources in underserved communities through unconventional ways, Maze took to social media to share her efforts. To date, she has distributed 7,000 books, and her goal is to give away 500,000 books in Baltimore and nationwide over the next five years.

Were you one of the families that helped complete our Elon LEGO mosaic at the Fan Fest Tailgate during Family Weekend??

Designed by one of our incredible student entrepreneurs, this Elon LEGO mosaic contains almost 17,000 pieces! Having so many parents and family members contribute to the building of this piece was by far our favorite part!

Last Friday was a transformational day, signifying the opening celebration for the university's new elementary school for children with dyslexia, the Roberts Academy at Elon University!

After a special student performance by a community of sixteen young learners, President Book shared, "I want you to know that Elon is a Hebrew word for ‘oak,’” she said. “What’s unique about oak trees is they grow the best in groves, and their root systems connect, and they become stronger as a team of trees. I charge you, as little Phoenix, to act like a grove of oak trees and to support each other and to help each other be successful as classmates.”
