Meet Amelia Monaghan C'27, a biochemistry major who spent her summer conducting research as a Michael Guckavan Fellow.

Working with faculty mentors, Drs. Kaitlyn Stepler and Angy Kallarackal, Amelia continued her research on Parkinson's disease while also mentoring newer students. Through this experience, she gained a deeper appreciation for scientific discovery and contributed to research on accessible treatment options for neurodegenerative diseases.

Jonpaul Marschall C'27, a biology major, spent his summer conducting research in Dr. Geraldine Vilmen's lab.

As a SRIA recipient, Jonpaul studied the connection between MARCH-8, autophagy, and HIV-envelope protein. Through his research, he gained hands-on experience in cell culture, cloning, DNA ligation, and gel electrophoresis while strengthening his problem-solving skills and deepening his interest in immunology and virology.

Meet Aleksander Easterday C'27, a Psychology major!

Aleksander spent his summer working in Dr. Angy Kallarackal's neuroscience lab, where he investigated whether ni****ne exposure can produce effects that persist across generations. This experience helped him develop essential laboratory skills, learn the importance of preparation, time management, and perseverance, and discover his passion for neuroscience research.

Over the summer, Josselin Cortez C'27, a Biology Major, gained valuable research skills while working in Dr. Sarah Krueger's lab.

Throughout the summer, Josselin gained hands-on research experience in organic synthesis, reaction analysis, NMR spectroscopy, and HPLC. This experience strengthened her problem-solving skills, persistence, and passion for molecular design and discovery.
