Mount St. Mary's University - School of Science, Mathematics & Technology Welcome to the School of Science, Mathematics & Technology! We empower future leaders to live lives of significance.

STEM at the Mount is where discovery begins—through hands-on research, expert faculty & real-world experience. The Mount’s view of education recognizes that you’ll be a better biologist or chemist or mathematician because of the integration of your major with our outstanding Veritas Curriculum. In Math and the Science you “learn by doing,” so we offer plenty of opportunities for research with facu

On July 28th, SSMT students presented their summer research through a series of fast-paced, short-form presentations, known as lighting talks. These presentations allowed researchers to quickly communicate their core research findings and the broader impact of their work without the depth of a traditional, long-form conference presentation. Dr. Eric Sakowski facilitated the lightning talks, while Dean Christine McCauslin and SSMT faculty participated in the event.

Dr. Daniel Salinas Duron, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics & Computer Science led a Summer Research Fellows program that provided students with hands-on experience in data science, programming, and bioinformatics research methods.

The program was made possible through a $1 million award from the Maryland E-Nnovation Initiative Fund (MEIF), administered by the Maryland Department of Commerce, which established an Endowed Professorship in Computational Science and Mathematics. This endowment supports the participation of three students in the research program each summer.
