Mount St. Mary's University - School of Science, Mathematics & Technology Welcome to the School of Science, Mathematics & Technology! We empower future leaders to live lives of significance.

STEM at the Mount is where discovery begins—through hands-on research, expert faculty & real-world experience. The Mount’s view of education recognizes that you’ll be a better biologist or chemist or mathematician because of the integration of your major with our outstanding Veritas Curriculum. In Math and the Science you “learn by doing,” so we offer plenty of opportunities for research with facu

Join us in congratulating Johnathon Johnson C’20! Johnathon recently received his Ph D. from the Department of Chemistry at the University of Florida! 🎉

Johnathon was a Chemistry major at the Mount and during his time as an undergraduate student he was part of the Track & Field and Cross-Country team, a part of Gamma Sigma Epsilon Honor Society, and conducted research with Dr. Garth Patterson and Dr. Isaac Mills. 🔬📓

Johnathon thanks the Mount and the impact it had on his success as a person and student. The Mount helped shaped Johnathon’s need for community and the importance of establishing a strong support system. His next step is applying for positions within academia and the semiconductor industry; we are so proud of you Johnathon! 🏔💡

Meet Katherine Corbo C’27, one of the STEM Leadership Recipients for 2026! 👋

We asked Katherine what it means to be a leader in STEM:

“Being a leader in STEM means using the resources around you not only to achieve your own goals, but also to encourage and uplift others in the field. I find myself supporting peers mainly through collaboration, sharing insights, and being open about the challenges I face, so others feel supported rather than discouraged. comes from learning through setbacks.” 💡

Katherine is most looking forward to engaging with her peers and mentors who share the same passion for technology and represent a wide range of disciplines. This will allow her to build a meaningful career in STEM through applying her classroom experiences in real life, congratulations Katherine! 🎉

Congratulations to the Applied Behavior Analysis Program on this major accomplishment! 🌟🎉

Congratulations to the Applied Behavior Analysis Program on this major accomplishment! 🌟🎉

Congratulations to the Applied Behavior Analysis Program on earning full recognition as a Tier 2a program from the Association for Behavior Analysis International! Tier 2a recognition is the level immediately before accreditation in the organization’s Tiered Education Model, and it reflects a program’s alignment with rigorous standards for curriculum, training quality, and faculty qualifications.

This distinction is especially meaningful because not every ABA program pursues or earns this level of recognition. For the Mount’s MSABA program, it signals strong, independently evaluated preparation for future behavior analysts and reflects the program’s commitment to high-quality, research-informed education grounded in the Mount’s mission.

Special thanks to Program Director Dr. Griffin Rooker, Associate Director Dr. Kwadwo Britwum, and the faculty, staff, and administrators whose dedication helped make this achievement possible. We are proud of our students, faculty, and the program we have built together, and we celebrate this recognition as a reflection of that shared commitment.

Congratulations to Alejandra Velasquez C’28, one of the STEM Leadership Scholarship Recipients for 2026! 🎉

We asked Alejandra what it means to be a STEM leader and she shared some inspiring info! 🌟

“A leader in STEM is not someone shaped by perfection, but someone who grows through mistakes that build courage, resilience, and optimism within. A STEM leader is someone who uses their experiences as a tool to nurture optimism and create a supportive learning environment for others.” 💡
