Recent research in the cognitive sciences points to how distinctly human our ways of understanding are. But what does this mean for our ability to know and love God? Are we destined only to make God in our image? In this lecture, Christian theologian Erin Kidd argues that cognitive science can actually aid theology in speaking rightly about God.

It is undisputed that St. Francis of Assisi is one of the most popular, beloved and universal saints of all time, a man of peace, and one keenly aware of the love of God and the gilt of creation. Yet, St. Francis was not in any way a budding environmentalist. He was a worldly man who radically changed his life because he was madly in love with God. This lecture will explore the raw, gut-wrenching and radical conversion the rich young Francis experienced as he conformed his life to Jesus Christ, against the temptations and pressures of family and the modern world. St. Francis is indeed an inspiration for those yearning for more than the artificial glamours of the current culture.
