Student Art Therapy Organization at ESU Student Art Therapy Organization at Emporia State University Even as students, we are engaged in affecting the human condition through the arts.

The Student Art Therapy Organization (SATO) at Emporia State University(ESU) is committed not only to our student members, but also to the ESU campus and the Emporia community. We are delighted to serve our fellow students and neighbors through participation in multicultural and community events, creative and constructive activities, and service directed efforts and internships with various populations across Kansas and the mid-west. Our efforts include our volunteer work, our academic course of study, and our professional participation at the state, regional and national levels.

Art Therapy Research Opportunity
Kristen Devlin, an art therapy scholar at Emporia State University, is offering an opportunity to participate in an art therapy research study on Sunday, September 20th, 2026. She will be studying the effects of mindfulness based art therapy on public speaking anxiety in adults. People who are interested agree to participate in one two-hour long session where they will complete an art therapy exercise focused on grounding and relaxation. A public speaking anxiety questionnaire will be given before and after the art therapy intervention. Any person over the age of 18 who has public speaking anxiety is welcome to sign up and participate if interested. This study will take place at the Lawrence Public Library in the auditorium from 10:00am - 12:00pm. Scan the Qr code email Kristen if you’re interested.
