Initiated in 1863 as the Kansas State Normal School, we take great pride in being the only state institution whose primary mission continues to be the preparation of teachers and other school personnel.The purpose of The Teachers College of Emporia State University is to develop skilled practitioners who are prepared with essential knowledge and applications in their fields of specialty.
