Father Zachery Greenwell was recognized as the "Clergy of the Year' for the state of Alabama from the Knights of Columbus Alabama State Council for providing outstanding spiritual guidance to the parish and exemplifying the values of a devoted parish priest. Father Zach will be among representatives from each state and country to be considered by the Supreme Council for the international Blessed Michael McGivney Medal. Father Zach is a member of Council 11480.

Congratulations to our Family of the Year for Council 11480 - the Miller Family. Sir Knight and Faithful Navigator Shaun, spouse Micah and family members Steven, Leeanna, Alayna and Lucille. The Millers were involved with the Knights and Shaun led the Faith in Action Family Programs, and both volunteered throughout the Catholic parish, and in the community. Shaun and Micah were Youth Leaders with the LifeTeen & Edge programs; son Steven is a Knight and is attending Auburn University; Leeanna also attends Auburn University; and Alayna and Lucille serve as volunteers during Council and parish activities.

Congratulations to James 'Clark' Moran for winning the 2026 Knights of Columbus Catholic Scholarship. Clark was an exceptional volunteer serving in numerous parish activities at St John's Catholic Church, an Honor Roll student and a varsity athlete at New Brockton High School, an inspiring leader in the local community, and a self employed entrepreneur. Clark will continue his education in the fall at Texas A&M University. Presenting the scholarship was Eric Long, Faith in Action Program Director for Community Programs and Chairperson for this year's Scholarship Committee. Clark is the son of Rob and Maggie Clark.

2026 Awards Ceremony! Congratulations to Council 11480 for outstanding service to our Parish and Community as Faith in Action Program Directors and members received recognition at the May meeting. Council Family of the Year was the Miller Family. Council Knight of the Year was Eric Long. Council Youth of the Year was Caroline Granger. Winning the Best in State Award for Faith Programs (Living Rosary) was Pete Bartosch and Nick Ciranni. Winning the Best in State Award for Family Programs (Food for Families) was Shaun Miller. Winning State Recognition for Family Awards was Shaun Miller. Winning Knight of the Year for the State of Alabama was Eric Long.

Congratulations to Caroline Granger for winning the 2025-2026 Knights of Columbus "Youth of the Year" award. Caroline was recognized for her overall contributions to the church, community, her leadership role with the Catholic youth groups, involvement with the religious education programs, overseeing the alter servers, and for excelling both in academics and athletics as a junior at Enterprise High School.
