The purposes of the The Medical Device Entrepreneurship Association (MDEA) are:
1) Education – to provide educational structures to help undergraduate and graduate students engage in the medical device company development process
2) Networking– to provide a suitable networking environment for student medical device entrepreneurs
3) Mentorship– to provide support and mentorship to students wishing
to pursue medical device entrepreneurial ventures
4) Inquiry – to host discussions that address novel issues relating to philosophy and ethics within the scope of medical device entrepreneurship
5) Professional Development– to collaborate with other universities (i.e. Emory University, Georgia State) to expand opportunities pertaining to medical device entrepreneurship to Georgia Tech undergraduate and graduate students
By involving students from multidisciplinary (i.e engineering, clinical, law, and medicine), NUMDEA is dedicated to enrich NU community with entrepreneurial atmosphere and catalyze medical device startups by hosting advertising, educational, networking events. Eventually, NUMDEA is growing as an incubator/accelerator for student Medical Device startups. By taking projects from Capstone design or other related courses, NUMDEA can be the foundation for this eco-system – not wasting any ideas coming from students by providing resources and connections for a medical device startup.
