On this day 33 years ago, Significant Sig & First Sergeant Matt Eversmann, HAMPDEN-SYDNEY 2000, led a group of 13 U.S. Army Rangers during the Battle of Mogadishu in Somalia. Eversmann and his fellow Rangers found themselves in a fierce battle after two U.S. Black Hawk helicopters were shot down. His heroic actions during the mission later inspired the 2001 film Black Hawk Down.
