Some highlights from Student Transition Experiences ! 💜🐾

This morning staff members from CNAIR, Native American and Indigenous Initiatives, MSA, and the RISE Center help welcome new students in the Native American & Indigenous welcome breakfast before joining in the march through the arch!

To help kick off the day Aaron Golding (Seneca Nation) who works in SESP and directs the Indigenous Academic Pathways program helped to share land acknowledgment remarks grounded in reciprocity and responsibility to lands and waters.

Welcome Wildcats! 💜

Just had a great day welcoming new Native & Indigenous students and their families to campus! It was incredible seeing familiar faces from the Indigenous Academic Pathways program for incoming students. Also wonderful seeing all the new faces coming through the arch.

Next up is the welcome reception from 12 pm - 2 pm on 9/24 outside CNAIR house - if you’re a new student or returning student this is a great place to meet faculty, staff, students, and other scholars!

From May 2 through May 9, we will be welcoming back our elders-in-residence Karen and Allen Washinawatok (Menominee Tribe of Wisconsin) to share traditional knowledge and practices. This residency helps build relationships and connections beyond campus as we learn about land-based cultural practices and Indigenous education. We are also excited to build a teaching lodge as part of our programming! Be on the lookout for more information on a welcome breakfast, knowledge sharing, and the teaching lodge build!
