National Dental Hygiene Month: Think Purple! 💜 🦷 We're celebrating National Dental Hygiene Month in a colorful way! Since purple is the official color of dentistry, our Dental Hygiene students and faculty are wearing purple attire to recognize the important role dental hygienists play in promoting oral health and healthy smiles.

🌬️ This week, our Respiratory Therapy and Nursing students recently had the opportunity to learn from Amy Waggener who works on the Respiratory Biologics team at AstraZeneca, an international pharmaceutical and biotechnology company. She discussed respiratory biologic medications and their impact on patient care. Students were able to ask questions and gain invaluable insights about asthma medications and more from this industry professional.

Experiences like these help connect classroom learning to real-world healthcare advances and prepare students for future careers in patient care. 💙

Who doesn’t love a walk in this paw-some fall weather? 🍂 🐾 This past weekend, students in USI’s chapter of Lambda Nu national honor society participated in the Vanderburgh Humane Society’s “Cardio for Canines” program. ❤️ Members from the Radiologic and Imaging Sciences and Diagnostic Medical Sonography programs had a doggone good time strolling through Garvin Park with their four-legged friends from the shelter. 🐶 🚶‍♀️ 🍁

Dr. Jessica Mason, Associate Professor and Chair of Occupational Therapy, visited Mary Phillips' USI 101 section this week to talk about the profession and to share tips on good ergonomics when studying. Students practiced different stretches and learned a lot about how best practices affect overall wellness. 💪 ❤️ 💙

👏 Meet the newest Southwest Indiana AHEC Scholars Cohort!

The 2026-28 cohort kicked off their journey with an orientation at Ronald McDonald House Charities. Scholars heard from a guest speaker about the services provided by Matthew 25 and began building connections with fellow students who share a passion for improving healthcare access and outcomes.

Representing nursing, medicine, physician assistant, physical therapy, occupational therapy, pharmacy and social work, these students come from the University of Southern Indiana, University of Evansville, Marian University and Purdue University.
