Happy National Library Week! 📚💗🏫
We are celebrating libraries, library workers, and library patrons with a new ‘National Library Week’ Recommended Reads display, curated with the help of University Archivist, Bob Vay!

This month, Bob has chosen to highlight ‘The Appalachian Trail: Celebrating America’s Hiking Trail’ by Brian King 📚
“The twenty-two hundred mile long Appalachian Trail is one of America’s natural treasures. It runs from Maine to Georgia, passing through fourteen East Coast states. It connects towns both small and large, national and state parks, mountain ranges within the greater Appalachians, and differing yet distinctly American cultural regions up and down the Trail. This [book] details this history of “The People’s Trail” in over 330 pages of black and white and vibrant color archival photographs from the Appalachian Trail Conservancy. These photographs are currently held in George Mason University Libraries’ Special Collections Research Center as part of the Appalachian Trail Conservancy records, C0336.”

You can reach Bob at [email protected] or make an appointment to visit SCRC at scrc.gmu.edu/visit

Come and check out the Recommended Reads “National Library Week” display at Fenwick Library (located on the first floor).

We are excited to bring you monthly Staff Picks from some of our awesome, hardworking George Mason University Libraries staff members!

This month’s pick is brought to you by Web Developer, Muhammad Bilal!

Muhammad has selected ‘Hidden Figures’ 🎥📚
“Hidden Figures tells the story of the brilliant women behind NASA’s most pivotal missions. It’s a powerful reminder for me that real progress comes not just from innovation, but from recognizing and uplifting the people behind it.”

Check out Recommended Reads at Fenwick Library!

Are you looking for a title we don’t currently carry at the libraries? We welcome suggestions from Mason students, faculty and staff for materials to be considered as a possible purchase for the collections. Check out the link in bio 🔗
