Join us on Wednesday, November 18, for the Health Administration Speaker Series: Building Your Edge: Expanding Your Knowledge and Resume with Minors, Certificates, and Degrees!

Interested in exploring ways to strengthen your education and résumé? This session will highlight how minors, certificates, and additional degrees can help you expand your knowledge and support your future career goals. Hear from program coordinators and academic advising professionals, explore your options, and have the opportunity to ask questions.

The session will take place from 1:30–2:30 p.m. in the Population Health Center Multipurpose Room, with a Zoom option available.

Light refreshments will be provided.

How can we build trust in AI as it becomes part of healthcare?

Professor Farrokh Alemi joined fellow experts at the 2026 IHE Experience Day on October 13 at Mason Square in Arlington, Virginia.

His panel, “From AI Innovation to Adoption: Building Trust at Scale with Standards,” explored how trusted data, interoperability, and collaboration can support responsible AI adoption in healthcare.

Part of IHE North America Connectathon Week, the event brought together healthcare leaders, researchers, and technology professionals to advance connected healthcare.

Learn about health data standardization, the role of NLM, and the work of the Health Data Standards Branch. Raja will also briefly discuss employment opportunities at NLM, including types of roles, the federal hiring process, and potential opportunities in the coming year.

HAPI was well represented at the 2026 Virginia Public Health Association Annual Conference in Richmond!

Faculty and students from George Mason University’s Department of Health Administration, Policy, and Informatics shared research addressing health care quality, workforce well-being, social isolation, health disparities, and other issues affecting health and health care.

Among this year’s HAPI presenters were Health Services Research doctoral students Ru Chen, Shaan Muberra Khan, Rathish Moorthy, Ghaida Alsadah, and Arion Lillard-Green, along with HAPI faculty Gilbert Gimm and Debora Goldberg. Their presentations included both poster and breakout sessions throughout the two-day conference.
It was a great opportunity for our HAPI community to share their work, connect with public health professionals from across Virginia, and contribute to conversations about improving health across the Commonwealth.

Congratulations to Debora Goetz Goldberg, PhD, MHA, MBA whose work is featured in the Fall 2026 issue of Mason Spirit!

The article, “A New Pathway for Mental Health Care Professionals,” highlights George Mason’s Interprofessional Behavioral Health Training Program for Youth Serving Professionals and its work to prepare graduate students to provide evidence-based, culturally responsive behavioral health care in community settings.

Dr. Goldberg serves as co-principal investigator for the program, which brings together students, faculty, and community partners across disciplines to help expand access to behavioral health care.

Congratulations to Dr. Goldberg and everyone involved in this important work!
