We are so proud of the amazing Shauna Rigaud, GMU's 2020 Black Graduate Student of the year! This Boston native is a true force for good in this world as she continues to find ways to speak out, build community, and advocate for the rights of others! Shauna is earning her PhD in Cultural Studies and works as our Community Based Learning Coordinator and beyond that, runs her own business, created the Black Graduate Student Association and is heavily involved in her Sorority and community organizations home in Boston.

Shauna has been a true voice and visionary and during her time here has created a space for Black Graduate Students to come together to support one another, to connect meaningfully and to fight for justice. She is a fierce advocate and has impacted the lives of so many, giving them a voice and allowing folks to feel seen and heard. Congratulations Shauna! So well deserved! We see you. We are so grateful for you and all you do! #blackexcellence

Meet Callie, a student from the Leadership LLC! Here's what she says about her experience living in her community:

"I chose the leadership and community engagement LLC because I love to be social and be involved in service work, but I know my leadership skills can improve. This LLC has provided me opportunities to get to know a lot of wonderful people and serve the Mason and surrounding communities, but it has also taught me a lot about what a good leader looks like and how to be an effective leader. It provided me comfort and a path of growth." ✨ #MasonLLC

Apply to live in an LLC by submitting the 2020-2021 Housing Application that can be completed through the StarRez portal 🖥️🏠
