College of Engineering and Computing at George Mason University The College of Engineering and Computing was founded in 1985 as George Mason University’s School of Information Technology and Engineering.

The College of Engineering and Computing is committed to continuing on the path to becoming one of the premier academic and research institutions in the country. Today, this large, multidisciplinary school maintains a dual pre-eminence in both information technology and engineering. Congratulations to the three CEC Academic Advisors who received awards at this year’s Academic Advising Symposium!

- Rebecca Lane, Cyber Security Engineering, won the V. Ann Lewis Academic Advisor of the Year Award.
- Joshua Fletcher, Computer Science, won the Unsung Hero Award.

Professor of Computer Science Alex Brodsky served as a keynote speaker at the joint session of the ENASE 2026 and ICEIS 2026 International Conferences this May in Benidorm, Spain.

His keynote, “Decision Guidance Systems and Their Applications,” explored how Decision Guidance Systems capture expert knowledge to deliver actionable recommendations for real-world decision-making.
