GMU Phiotas

GMU Phiotas Phi Iota Alpha (ΦΙΑ), established December 26, 1931, is the oldest Latino fraternity in existence.

The George Mason University Colony of Phi Iota Alpha Fraternity Inc. strives to achieve the following: 1. Promotion of personal, communal, and Pan-American development through the ideals of our Fraternal Pillars as well as other Pan-American intellectuals and their philosophies 2. Creation of a Latin American consciousness 3. Intensification of education with a Latin American character 4. Mobilization of Latin American communities 5. Conservation of the integrity of the Latin American character

Mission: To unite its members fraternally in a manner in which, individually and collectively, they will contribute towards the fulfillment of the organizations mission. To foment a scientific study of the social, economic, and political problems of Pan-America.

To be a Don is never easy and the few that make it truly are Distinguished. On April 9th, 2015, Phi Iota Alpha Fraternity, Inc. welcomed FIVE remarkable young men into its Illustrious Brotherhood. Today marks our monumental five years at George Mason University since the first Distinguished Dons formally established a new era. We would like to wish our Founding Line, “Embajadores de Una Nueva Era,” a Happy Phiotaversary and thank them for bringing forth a new organization. These five brave souls embarked on a journey and became the first Distinguished Dons at George Mason University! Since then our organization has grown and continued to exhibit the ideals of Panamericanism. Congratulations Hermanos! 🦁

Help the GMU colony reach their goal of gathering school supplies for children who need it most. The school supplies will be sent to the hometown of our Alumni Brandon Juarez-Lopez (Don Kólintúmel) where they will be distributed at the local school. As of this month the GMU colony will be accepting donations specifically any new or in good condition backpacks, notebooks, pens, pencils, crayons, markers, scissors and coloring books.
