Catherine Fitzgerald ’27, public health major and member of the Fairfield University Field Hockey team, gained firsthand experience in the pharmaceutical industry this summer as an intern with Johnson & Johnson's Medical Affairs Immunology team.

Working on Real-World Evidence & Value projects, Catherine contributed to systematic literature reviews, disease burden research, and explored how AI tools can support evidence generation. The experience strengthened her understanding of real-world data and cross-functional collaboration while furthering her interest in a career in the pharmaceutical industry.

Fairfield Egan Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) students traveled to Austin, Texas, for their annual three-day residency, known as the Lone Star learning experience.

Throughout the residency, students connected with public health professionals from the Texas Health Institute, Austin Child Guidance Center, UTHealth Houston School of Public Health, Austin Public Health, and One Voice Central Texas, gaining valuable perspectives on public health practice and community health initiatives.

Fairfield University's Austin Campus alumna Heather Severson ’25 turned a career in science into a new path in nursing through Fairfield University’s Accelerated Second Degree Nursing program.

After gaining hands-on clinical experience and completing a student nurse internship during her final semester, Severson secured a position as a labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum nurse at Ascension Seton Northwest Hospital.

For Samuel Weinstein '27, Fairfield Egan’s online Master of Public Health (MPH) program has provided opportunities to connect his coursework directly to his clinical and professional work, including a presentation at the 2025 Quality & Safety Conference, sharing his work in surgical quality improvement at Norwalk Hospital.

From the classroom to the ICU, Uma Bhatt Pugach ’26 gained hands-on experience caring for critically ill patients during her Transitions to Nursing Capstone at Norwalk Hospital.

Fairfield's Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) for Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners (PMHNP) prepares graduates for leadership roles in settings ranging from academia to psychiatric emergency rooms.

The first PMHNP program in Connecticut and one of the first in the U.S., the program provides advanced training in psychotherapy and trauma-informed care, with an emphasis on serving vulnerable populations and respecting the dignity of every person.

The National League for Nursing (NLN) has recognized Fairfield Egan as a Center of Excellence in nursing education. Since 2018, the school has earned the distinction three times, including this year, joining just 20 nursing schools nationwide to receive the honor.
