This course provides an overview of what one would see, for example, at an AA meeting, interpreting s*xual issues, anger management counseling, or possibly when working with Deaf children. We will discuss how s*x signs have changed since 1970. This workshop will go a long way in enhancing cultural/gender sensitivity in conversation and cultural rules in the Deaf Community. This seminar provides vocabulary development and encourages familiarity with signs one may come across in professions mentioned above.

Deaf Tend Yours: Mouthing Morphemes in ASL
The content of this workshop will assist interpreters in mastering the challenge of accurately discerning the meaning of non-manual signals and producing linguistically equivalent interpretations. The content includes information and practice with basic and advanced ASL non-manual signals. Specific characteristics of NMS will be discussed and demonstrated. The presenter will show how NMS are incorporated into the structure of ASL. Participants will be assisted in dealing with NMS within the interpretation process for both sign-to-voice and voice-to-sign tasks.
