Continuing Education offers non-credit, enrichment classes and events that improve the cultural, social, and recreational life of the community. This includes special interest courses, workshops, employee skills, and "College for Kids." We are looking for individuals who are interested in sharing their hobby or interest with other people, too. To be a teacher for Community Education for Western Nevada College, you do not have to have a teaching degree, just a passion for what you are teaching. It can be anything you love to do and would want to share with adults or youth.

If you’re unemployed, underemployed or ready for a career change, WNC’s CDL Prep program could put you on the road toward a new career in just five weeks!
💪 Gain hands-on skills and prepare for your Class A CDL
💼 Connect with employers who are ready to hire
💰 Experienced CDL drivers can earn $80,000+ annually, depending on the job and experience
🎓 Financial assistance may be available through scholarships, grants and workforce partners
Classes run Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with upcoming sessions in Carson City and Fallon.

Looking for a quick listen between classes, during your lunch break or while you’re on the go? Wildcat Bytes deliver short, engaging conversations about the topics affecting WNC and higher education, without the extended commitment. ⏱️
The long-form Wildcat Connection podcast is still going strong, but these shorter episodes give WNC instructors, administrators, staff and students a chance to share their expertise, experiences and perspectives in 30 minutes or less. 🎧
So far, podcast hosts Josh Fleming and Ryan Johnson have served up six Bytes, exploring the ever-evolving world of artificial intelligence:
🤖 Dr. Christian Copley-Salem and Joseph Bell: The professors share their perspectives on AI in higher education.
💻 Tony Spiker: The Information Technology professor discusses the AI he developed for his own classroom.

It's been a busy week on the national stage for WNC President Dr. J. Kyle Dalpe, with speaking engagements in New York City and Chicago. We're proud to share his reflections from this week's ACCT Leadership Congress, where he joined Nevada System of Higher Education Vice Chair and ACCT Chair Carol Del Carlo for a conversation about leadership, balance and well-being. 🌪️
From President Dalpe: I had a great time presenting Thursday at the 2026 Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) Leadership Congress in Chicago with NSHE Vice Chair and ACCT Chair Carol Del Carlo.
Our session “The Yin and Yang of Executive Leadership: Sustaining Energy, Focus, and Well-Being as a Leader” brought together lessons from my years in higher education leadership and two activities that have taught me a lot about balance: running and yoga. 🏃‍♂️
Leadership requires knowing when to push forward and when to pause, when to act and when to listen, and when to make room for reflection and recovery. Finding that balance isn’t always easy, especially with the demands placed on college presidents and trustees. 👑
One of my favorite takeaways is that we all have activities outside of work that can teach us something about how we lead. Running and yoga happen to be mine. What are yours?

🎭 “Les Misérables,” one of the most decorated musicals in history, is coming to the Carson City Community Center next month, courtesy of the Western Nevada Musical Theatre Company (WNMTC).
This extraordinary production has won more than 70 major international theatre awards, including eight Tony Awards, multiple Olivier Awards, and a Grammy Award.
WNMTC will present 10 performances on weekends from Nov. 6-22. 🎤

🏛️ WNC had a voice in a national conversation on higher education today.
WNC President Dr. J. Kyle Dalpe joined higher education leaders from across the nation in New York City for the Inside Higher Education conference, taking part in an important discussion about restoring public trust in higher education.
The conversation focused on some of the most important issues facing colleges and universities today, including affordability, workforce preparation and demonstrating the value of higher education, not only to students, but to the communities they serve.
As President Dalpe often says at WNC: “It’s not just about getting students in the door, it’s about walking them through it and across the stage.” 🎓
And that impact doesn’t end at commencement. WNC graduates carry the knowledge, skills and opportunities gained through their education into their careers, families and communities.
President Dalpe said he appreciated the profound discussion and diverse perspectives shared by his fellow panelists and higher education leaders.
