Welcome to the Fall 2026 Semester, Wildcats!😃
We're delighted that you're returning to the college or embarking on your first semester at Western! As you start the first week of the semester, be aware of a variety of resources available to you:
Support and resources:
Reach out for help when you're facing challenges, whether they're academic, personal or emotional. WNC offers Academic Coaches to help with assignments; more info is available at https://library.wnc.edu/about_academic_coaching. The library also has family friendly learning spaces. In addition, WNC provides access to mental health support and guidance at wnc.edu/wellness.
WNC Experience:
You have a lot going on, but you’re not alone. Take time to listen to your fellow students and perhaps share your thoughts through WNC Experience, a Canvas-based gathering spot where students gain a better connection with their peers and the college.
Enjoy being a college student:
College is a special time in your life, and it's important to have fun and create lasting memories. Strike a balance between your academic responsibilities and enjoying the social aspects of college. Student government (ASWN) and Student Life provide many activities to create student interaction in the Dini Student Center. Learn more at wnc.edu/wildcat.
Online bookstore:
If you still need to order books and course materials, WNC has a new online bookstore that is available in Canvas, our web-based learning management system. It's also accessible at wnbookstore.com. 📚
Get involved:
College is the ideal time and place to explore your interests and passions on campus. Join clubs, organizations and groups that align with your hobbies or career aspirations. Learn more at wnc.edu/wildcat-life/clubs-organizations.
Grab-and-go food options:
Vending machines are provided in many of our buildings, and a Micro Mart located on the first floor of the Aspen building contains a large inventory of food items. Microwaves and a toaster are available for students to use. Note: The Micro Mart doesn't provide change, so please use a card for your purchases.🥪
Important dates:
Students can keep informed about upcoming deadlines, important dates and events via the vibrant campus TVs and on the website at events.wnc.edu.
Focus on your health:
Eat right, exercise regularly and make sure to get enough sleep. This will help you become more successful with your classes! WNC offers a food pantry for those needing food assistance and a gym in the Student Center! Learn more about the food pantry at wnc.edu/wildcat-life/food-pantry.
The college community is here to help you become successful. Don't feel that you are alone; ask for help when needed. Make the most of your college experience. Learn, grow and create memories that will last a lifetime.
Have an incredible and successful fall semester!
