Graduate student Colten Alme has earned a prestigious National Science Foundation (NSF) INTERN award to fund a 6-month, full-time research internship at CorVent Medical right here in Fargo! 🤘🦬

Working in Dr. Yan Zhang’s BioFlow Lab, Colten has been studying complex biological flows. Now, he’s taking that academic research and applying it to life-saving respiratory ventilation systems, learning firsthand how medical devices move from design to regulatory testing and market impact.

Best of luck with the internship, Colten! We can’t wait to see where your research takes you next.

A huge thank you to our Premier Partners for joining us for a sneak peek of the new Richard Offerdahl '65 Engineering Complex! 🎓🛠️

Before our official ribbon-cutting and dedication on October 2, we wanted to take a moment to say thank you to the incredible industry leaders who helped bring this project to life. Partners like Bobcat Company, Marvin, and Mortenson are invested directly in NDSU students and their future workforce.

During their tour, guests saw our "Engineering on Display" concept in action—from the huge student makerspace and high-bay lab to high-tech labs for electronics, precision ag, cybersecurity, and materials science.

Every square foot of this $100 million complex was built with student success in mind. We can't wait to share this amazing space with our entire Bison family at our dedication celebration! 🤘

The latest edition of Herd: A Magazine for NDSU Alumni & Friends introduces new North Dakota State University President Marshall Stewart. Learn how Marshall made an impression on presidential search committee member Dr. Chad Ulven ’01.

Chad is an alumnus who has worked in the NDSU College of Engineering for 20+ years. He teaches in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and serves as a University Distinguished Professor (the highest academic honor for NDSU faculty).

“Our path forward will require collaboration, problem-solving, and a Herd mentality — and by Herd mentality, I don’t mean that we should blindly follow, but rather that we should determine a shared purpose through conversations and consensus-building,” Chad wrote. “I’m excited to have President Stewart here to help lead these efforts at NDSU.” 🦬

Classroom learning is just the beginning at NDSU! 💛💚

Ebenezer Agbenyegah, a senior majoring in civil engineering, spent his summer as a municipal intern at Bolton & Menk. From local airport projects to street reconstruction, Ebenezer gained hands-on experience seeing how engineering directly impacts local communities.

Originally from Eswatini in southern Africa, Ebenezer transferred to NDSU last year and quickly jumped into student leadership, joining ASCE, NSBE, and serving as an Engineering Ambassador.

"NDSU is just a really good community where, regardless of whether you came here your freshman year or transferred, you'll always feel like family," Ebenezer says.
