It's a big week at NDSU! 🎉

As we celebrate Homecoming, we also mark the official installation of Dr. Marshall Stewart as NDSU's 16th president.

Journalism student and Bison Information Network member Charlotte D'Avignon captured scenes from the presidential inauguration luncheon on October 1, documenting this historic occasion for the university.

What an incredible August and September in the Department of Communication!

We kicked off the academic year by welcoming new and returning students at our back-to-school picnic and our annual Department of Communication Ice Cream Social, giving everyone a chance to reconnect, make new friends, and start the semester strong. We were especially excited to meet the newest members of our community and help them get settled at NDSU.

Our student organizations also started the semester strong, recruiting new members, holding their first meetings of the year, and building momentum for an exciting semester ahead. (From top left, photos 1 and 7 are from NDSU PRSSA and photo 9 is from NDSU Photo Club).

Thank you to everyone who helped make these first weeks so memorable. Here's to a great year!

🚨 ICYMI: Assistant Professor Emily Zhan recently presented her research at the 2026 AEJMC Annual Conference.

Her presentation explored how audiences perceive and develop relationships with AI influencers, contributing to emerging conversations about AI, social media, and human–AI communication.

It is so great to see the department well represented at AEJMC! Nice job, Dr. Zhan!

Congratulations, Mac, on making your dream come true! âšľ

There will be plenty of Dairy Queen Blizzards and Dilly Bars to enjoy while you connect with fellow students. New students can meet fellow communication majors, while returning students can help welcome our newest members to the department. We hope to see you there!
