Training with live “animal educators” is a huge part of what makes our program and its hands-on components so successful in helping students build long term knowledge and skills. Special thanks to the CAARE Bird Rescue, NDSU Swine Unit Team, Homeward Animal Shelter, Turtle Mountain Animal Rescue and Cats Cradle Shelter for sharing your animals with our students as they learn!!

Rabies is a zoonotic disease (a disease spread between animals and humans) of real concern! Our students learn a great deal about zoonotic disease spread and prevention. We stress the importance of preventative rabies vaccination for our students and for animals. Please ensure your animals are up to date on their vaccines, including the rabies vaccine.

Our Large Animal Techniques Lab, second year+ vet tech students, had a brand new experience today as they worked with camelids at the Ten Seven Acres Alpaca Farm in Galchutt, ND. The amazing farm owner Jessie was a fantastic host and teacher of all things alpaca! The resident animal educators were kind and gentle and perfect for a first time experience with this species for our students!

Partnerships such as this, with local ranchers, animal owners, and rescue organizations allow our students EXTRA SPECIAL training and learning opportunities! Thank you Ten Seven Acres!! 💚💛🦬🦙💛💚

*Find Ten Seven Acres on social media to learn more about this open to the public Alpaca experience!

The veterinary technology students were trotting, gowning, gloving, chicken examining and so much more this week in a variety of classes with hands-on animal components. Thankful for our instructor team that ensures the students are practicing safe animal handling while they learn and even bring their personal animals to town to help our students along with the AMAZING NDSU animal units we work along side!
