Our program director, Dr. Hazel E. Guler, recently hosted a webinar on doing global rhetorical research. Dr. Guler also serves as the chair of The Global & Non-Western Rhetorics Standing Group at CCCC (The Conference on College Composition and Communication), the sponsor of this webinar.
Webinar description: “Rhetoric” encompasses various cultural conventions and innovations in writing and communication. A globally inclusive rhetorical praxis requires discovering new terminologies and theories. But, what is this discovery process like for Global and Non-Western Rhetoricians? In this webinar, Dr. Xiaoye You will speak and answer the audience's questions about doing global and non-Western rhetorical research.
Dr. You is a Professor of English and Asian Studies at The Pennsylvania State University. He is the author of Genre Networks and Empire: Rhetoric in Early Imperial China (2023), in addition to his many other acclaimed works in global rhetorical studies. He is the winner of CCCC's 2018 Research Impact Award and 2011 Outstanding Book Award.”
