The PEP lab's hard work on research paid off at Longwood's Student Showcase for Research and Creative Inquiry. Students Audrey Thompson and Kyra Johnson were recognized for their outstanding research, and their mentor Dr. Kissel received a Faculty Excellence in Mentoring Award!

seniors and PEP lab members Audrey Thompson and Kyra Johnson presented the results of their research at the National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR) in Richmond, VA. It's the largest undergraduate research conference in the world! Their research was about psychophysiological differences between autistic and neurotypical individuals.

Members of Dr. Kissel's PEP lab attended the Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference for Undergraduate Scholarship at Randolph College, where Ryan Abernathy presented his research on peer pressure and cannabis use.

Frances Ulysse and Sarah Moore presented results from the study "Problematic Mobile Phone Use, Attachment Style, Emotion / Conflict Avoidance, and Motivation to Learn” at the Carolinas Psychology Conference, April 11, 2026. Ellie Lowry was also a coauthor, and the study was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Bjornsen.
