What is the Lancer Learning Community? We encourage community partnership. We are pleased and excited to share a new endeavor that will begin building Continuing and Professional Studies at Longwood! This initiative is called the “Lancer Learning Community” which we hope will unite Longwood and many of our community members to “Lighten up and Learn”. We are starting by developing some classes that
focus on fun, yet purposeful topics, infused with just the right amount of learning. The Lancer Learning Community initiative will provide motivating, intriguing and educational opportunities for a wide variety of adult learners from our campus, our town, Hampton Sydney, our local businesses, and surrounding areas. Our classes are varied in topic, consist of four-week, one-hour lessons, and will utilize the expertise of many Farmville merchants, students, colleagues and field experts. As the initiative grows, we hope Longwood faculty and staff will lend their ideas and expertise as well. Everyone feels better when they take the time to learn something new. Often, it takes a fun topic to remind us how much we enjoy learning and how learning improves us as individuals. As a campus community, we know this. Now we hope to share this more broadly outside our campus community. Lancer Learning Community classes at Longwood University are non-credit classes open to individuals who may be interested in professional development or enhancing skills and knowledge. All classes are offered in a face-to-face format for this initiative.
