A huge congratulations to one of our Psychology undergraduates, Phoebe Hopper, on being named one of the University of Arkansas’ 2026 Sturgis Fellows and a member of the 40th class of Sturgis Fellows!

Phoebe is from Magazine, Arkansas. She is a state champion in cross-country, indoor track and field, and outdoor track and field, and this summer, she became a Beta Club National Champion in psychology.

Phoebe chose to study psychology because she finds the subject interesting and wants to help people live happier, healthier lives.

We are incredibly proud to have Phoebe represent the Department of Psychological Science and can’t wait to see all that she accomplishes!

Recently on Short Talks from the Hill, our very own department chair, Dr. James Lampinen, explains why eyewitnesses can make mistakes, how memory is shaped by outside influences, and what law enforcement can do to improve the accuracy of eyewitness identification.

It's a fascinating look at the science of memory, facial recognition, and the role psychology plays in the criminal justice system.

A huge shout out to Dr. Chapman and Stephanie Kane, for completing the intensive Fulbright Learning Community’s Course-Building Workshop earlier this month!

They invested 15 hours over five consecutive days into intensive, student-centered course design. This incredible initiative is poised to impact nearly 4,000 students across the college this coming academic year.

Thank you both for your massive commitment to teaching excellence and professional growth here in the psychology department!

Led by Professor Tim Cavell, our psychology students recently traveled to Florence and Padua for two days of incredible academic exchange and cultural exploration.

In Florence, they connected with Professor Ersilia Menesini at the University of Florence to dive into bullying and cyberbullying research. In Padua, they were hosted by Professors Gianluca Gini and Claudia Marino at the University of Padua, where they met with local Italian students to swap stories about mentoring, student life, and peer support. 🇮🇹✈♥

What a wonderful and memorable experience for our Razorbacks!

Hey folks! Hope everyone is having a great summer so far.

Throwing it back to Thursday, May 7th, for our 4th annual Department of Psychology soccer game! The weather at the UREC Sports Complex was absolutely perfect, and it was great seeing so many faculty, staff, and students trading the lab for the pitch. ⚽️☀️

Big thanks to everyone who came out to play, cheer from the sidelines, and make our fourth year running a massive success. Who is already training for year five? 🏃‍♂️
