Soldiers to Agriculture Program

Soldiers to Agriculture Program Soldiers to Ag is a five-week course that gives participants an overview of careers in agriculture. Military is the second largest industry in NC.

Beginning in 2016, NCSU’s Agricultural Institute, part of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, began working with Fort Bragg Transition Assistance Program to develop a course for transitioning soldiers that will help them gain meaningful employment in the agricultural industry in NC. This industry, the largest industry in NC, brings 84 billion dollars to NC’s economy each year. We are bri

nging the two industries together again as history has shown us that our founding military was established and built primarily of farmers throughout the history of our country. Today, agriculture needs a new breed of career minded people to take us into the future. Our population is rapidly rising in the world, our farmers are aging, and there aren’t many ready to take on the farms of tomorrow. By combining the two largest industries in NC, we will bring agriculture to a new level and provide veterans a new worthwhile lifestyle, as well as the people of the world a new hero to feed them all. If you have six months or less on your current enlistment, you can sign up for the course at the Soldier For Life, Transition Assistance Program Office on Fort Bragg. For more information, feel free to call or email us. This program is open to all transitioning military in the world, however you may incur costs for lodging and travel to and from the program if you are attending the course from another installation. The class will be offered at the Cumberland County Agricultural Center, 301 East Mountain Drive in Fayettevile in January, April, and August and will run for five weeks. The next chapter of your life is calling.
