A recent Endocrine Today article asserts that fracture risk assessments should enter diabetes care conversations earlier.

New research found that individuals with type 1 diabetes have more than double the fracture risk compared to those without diabetes, and that risk starts as early as ages 10-19. Those with diabetic kidney disease have up to five times higher risk for fractures.
