Today kicks off National Women’s Health Week. While diabetes affects 40.1 million in the U.S., its impact is not the same for everyone.

Compared to men with diabetes, women with diabetes face:

▪️ A higher risk for heart disease.

▪️ Lower survival rates and a poorer quality of life after a heart attack.

▪️ An increased risk for blindness.

▪️ A higher risk for depression.

This week is an important reminder for diabetes care providers to assess individual risk, stay current on screening guidelines and ensure those managing diabetes receive timely, personalized care.
