✨ From first-time learner to 3D-printing creator!

Through FTCC’s SparkLab, a partnership with SparkNC, Cumberland Polytechnic High School senior Maaz Sayyid discovered the possibilities of 3D modeling and printing. With no prior experience in either skill, Maaz created two impressive 3D-printed busts of CPHS Principal Niesha Witherspoon and had the opportunity to present them to her in person!

As a cooperative, innovative high school right here on FTCC's Fayetteville campus, CPHS offers students a chance to complete their associate degree while earning their high school diploma.

CPHS students have access to all of the learning resources available at FTCC, including the SparkLab, where students can turn curiosity into creativity and build skills through hands-on learning to become Future Ready!

That's a wrap on 2026 Disaster COMMS School Week!

Cumberland County, in partnership with NC Emergency Management (NCEM), was honored to welcome nearly 120 emergency communications and emergency services professionals from across North Carolina and beyond to our area for this year's training.

Hosted at FTCC's Fire and Rescue Training Center, the week kicked off with training courses in INTD/TERT, COML, COMT, ITSL and AuxCOMM. The week wrapped up with a hands-on exercise Thursday afternoon and Friday morning, giving participants the opportunity to put their training into practice.

During the simulation, participants worked together across agencies to respond to a tornado that knocked out communications, challenging them to establish communications from the ground up and put their training into action.

We're grateful to NCEM for partnering with us and to Fayetteville Technical Community College for serving as our host facility. Thank you to all the participants, instructors and partners who made this week of collaboration, learning and preparedness possible. We were honored to host this important training in Cumberland County!

πŸš’ In honor of Fire Prevention Week, FTCC’s Fire Protection Technology & Emergency Management program hosted Fire Safety Day on campus to give our students and community members a chance to talk with public safety professionals about fire prevention and safety practices.

Events like Fire Safety Day not only improve fire prevention awareness among some of our youngest community members, but they also introduce students to the wide array of careers possible in emergency services.

A huge thank you to everyone from our local first responder community who showed up to make this a great experience!

πŸ–€πŸ’›πŸŒΈ One of our favorite community partnerships! We love to see our Horticulture students put their skills to use keeping Downtown Fayetteville's iconic Hurley Pots in top shape and ready for the season.

Downtown got a little greener this morning!

Students from the FTCC Horticulture Program were out in Downtown Fayetteville filling our Hurley Pots with fresh plants and putting their skills to work right in the heart of the city.

It’s these kinds of partnerships that help make Downtown a place we’re proud to welcome people to every day.

A big thank you to the FTCC Horticulture students and staff for spending the morning with us and helping keep Downtown Fayetteville looking beautiful!

Next time you’re Downtown, take a look at their work!

See you in the District!
