🐄 INTERNSHIP SPOTLIGHT: Brooklee Roach

This summer, Brooklee gained valuable hands-on experience as a ranch hand at The 808 Ranch. Working alongside the cattle manager, she spent long days checking cows, pulling calves, and learning from experienced and passionate individuals in the cattle industry.

The most valuable lesson Brooklee learned was to always do your best to learn from everyone around you. Her experience also pushed her closer to her goal of pursuing large-animal veterinary medicine.

Reflecting on her internship, Brooklee shared that the experience will continue to shape how she approaches working with new people, solving problems as a team, and keeping the animals’ natural instincts at the forefront of decisions.

🇦🇺 Australia: A Trip of a Lifetime! 🦘

Two weeks. Countless adventures. Unforgettable wildlife. Lifelong friendships.

From the Outback and bush to the Great Barrier Reef, our Animal Science students experienced the incredible wildlife, landscapes and culture of Australia while stepping outside their comfort zones and making memories they’ll carry with them for years to come.

For many students, the trip was more than a study abroad experience. It was an opportunity to try new things, meet people they may have never crossed paths with, gain a new perspective and discover just how much they were capable of.

And, of course, there were plenty of unforgettable wildlife encounters along the way, including a curious juvenile humpback whale affectionately named Reggie. 🐋

“You will NEVER regret studying abroad, but you will regret not doing it,” Karigan Leggett.

We’re so glad our students took the leap and made Australia part of their story. ❤️🇦🇺

You can have that experience too! Check out our Study Abroad opportunities for 2027 and start your own adventure. 🌏✈️

🐄 INTERNSHIP SPOTLIGHT: Natalie Miller

This summer, Natalie gained hands-on experience at Mathias Ranch, working with a registered and commercial cattle operation with more than 1,500 head. From administering vaccines, sorting and feeding cattle, and monitoring herds to data entry, record keeping, photography, social media, marketing, and community engagement, Natalie experienced the many sides of working in the beef industry.

One of the most valuable lessons she learned was the importance of building connections and working tirelessly for the industry. Her internship gave her the confidence to advocate for agriculture and strengthened her passion for community engagement, agricultural policy, and protecting American agriculture.

When asked to reflect on her experience, Natalie said, "One door closes and another opens, but sometimes it's a window instead and you have to jump.”
