FTCC's National Technical Honor Society is teaming up with FTCC's Social Justice Club to collect hygiene products for those in need. If you would like to make our community service project a success, please drop of donated items in box near CUH 348 or Audra Harris at CUH 395 or box outside of ATC 147. We will be accepting donations until November 18th.

Body Wipes
Socks

NTHS members please join us there to pass out items. If you know people who could use any of the services listed on the attached flyer, please share to get the word out.

National Technical Honor Society is holding their first annual meeting for the 2026-2027 school year on Tuesday, September 8th at 2 :30 p.m. in CUH 355. We plan to elect officers. If you would like to serve again or would like to volunteer to sign up for a position let Audra Harris know by email at [email protected]. We will vote that day. We will also discuss fundraising opportunities and field trips. Bring your ideas.

If you are a current member and cannot attend in person we will meet on Collaborate as well that day. Go into NTHS Canvas site and click on Collaborate.

If you are interested and are not a member join us. NTHS is a national honor society that has scholarship, job resources, referrals/recommendation letters, etc. You also get to go on field trips, raise money for a good cause, and network with fellow classmates, etc. Requirements to join are 3.0 GPA at FTCC, $45, and be a current FTCC student.

Brittany Milligan, Marketing Instructor at FTCC is seeking volunteer guest speakers to share their knowledge, experiences and expertise with high school and collegiate students across the state who are members of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA).

Speaking opportunities are available throughout the year:
* Fayetteville, NC: Year-round
* Raleigh, NC: November
* Charlotte, NC: Early April
* Virtual: Year-round

Topics can vary based on your area of expertise, with an emphasis on the NACE Career Readiness Competencies, including career & self-development, communication, critical thinking, leadership, professionalism, teamwork and technology.

You don’t have to be a professional speaker. I’m looking for professionals willing to share what they’ve learned, offer real-world insight and help prepare students for their future careers.

Building on a year of achievement, FTCC’s FBLA Collegiate chapter represented the college at the National Leadership Conference in Las Vegas, showcasing the chapter’s success on the national stage.

Suzanna McGhee (student) named a FBLA Collegiate Excellence Award Silver Winner

P. Simone Browne (student) advanced as a Management Case Competition Finalist

Brittany Milligan (faculty) was elected Leadership & Program Development Director for NC FBLA Collegiate Executive Board for the 2026–2028 term

Beyond competition, students participated in more than 40 combined hours of professional development activities, including workshops, leadership sessions, and career-focused programming. They also connected with employers, industry professionals, and FBLA members from across the country, expanding their professional networks and gaining valuable career insights. Upon completion of post-conference assessments later in June, all participating students will earn the FBLA Professional Foundations Program Certificate.

The chapter also received national recognition as a North Carolina Gold Seal Chapter, highlighting its sustained excellence in programming, leadership development, and member engagement.

"Paratrooper to future Princetonian

From almost no formal schooling and having to drop out of high school so I could work, to having the privilege of panicking over which dream school to attend.

First generation college student, immigrant, low-income background, GED kid. There was absolutely nothing in my background that would ever hint that this could be a possibility for me.

This has been a long time in the making. Two years ago I decided that the first step towards a shot at some of the best humanities programs in the country was proving myself at my local community college. Today I graduated from Fayetteville Technical Community College with a perfect 4.0. The decision to go back to school as an adult was terrifying. The first time I ever attempted college I had no formal schooling behind me and I was not ready, and the grades reflected that. Coming back almost 15 years later with some life behind me, turned out to be a completely different thing.

Today was also a second huge life event — I have committed to Princeton University as a member of this year’s veterans and transfer cohort. I received offers from several Ivy League institutions and some of the best research universities in the country so this choice was one of the hardest I’ve ever made.

I chose Princeton because of their unwavering support for veterans as well as their commitment to research and the thesis requirement. They also uphold high academic standards and rigor in today’s ever changing educational landscape. As someone who is chasing education for knowledge itself and not just credentialing, this was very important to me. There is a reputation of difficulty and anyone who knows me knows that I chase a challenge. (Also the history. They are older than the actual country and the whole place looks like Hogwarts hello!?.)

I owe a debt of gratitude to the Warrior-Scholar Project for helping me realize my place in a liberal arts environment and for believing in me before I fully believed in myself. Service to School provided the support I needed to apply to these schools and a mentor who guided me through the application process. A heartfelt thank you to every professor at Fayetteville Technical Community College who wrote countless letters of recommendation and stepped in as my advisors when I didn’t have one.

Finally, thank you to the team at Princeton for answering my frankly absurd amount of questions and making me feel genuinely welcome during my visit. You made this decision a little easier.

This is proof that it’s never too late and there is an important space in higher education for people with non-traditional paths.

What a great time at FTCC! It was great to see the participation and collaboration that went on that day.

Yesterday, Board of Commissioners Chairman Kirk deViere joined Fayetteville State University Chancellor Darrell T. Allison and Fayetteville Technical Community College President Mark Sorrells in welcoming North Carolina Secretary of State Elaine Marshall for the “Empowering Small Businesses for Financial Readiness” event.

Fayetteville State University and Fayetteville Technical Community College partnered to host the event, which connected entrepreneurs and business owners with expert guidance on financial preparedness, growth strategies and building stronger businesses.

Regional partnerships help drive economic opportunity. Together, we are supporting innovation, strengthening our local economy and creating new opportunities across Cumberland County.

FTCC Accounting Students-do you know about the two year bridge program for community college student? If not, see below.

The American Accounting Association offers a Two-Year Bridge Symposium that is specifically designed to connect community college students with careers in accounting.

The event is at various locations nationwide, including Charlotte, NC.

American Accounting Association Foundation’s Two-Year Bridge Symposium is a nationwide event designed to connect community college students with accounting career possibilities. The Symposium equips students with knowledge, connections, and resources to help these students confidently navigate their educational and career pathways in accounting.

The one-day Symposium will take place on November 6, 2026, hosted at the offices of Deloitte, EY, KPMG, PwC, Baker Tilly, BDO, Grant Thornton, RSM, and Plante Moran in selected cities nationwide.

All meals, approved travel, and program expenses are fully covered for accepted applicants, allowing students to focus on the experience by alleviating financial burdens and expanding access to the accounting profession.

We invite you to share this opportunity with your students, colleagues, and local community college partners, and to encourage students to apply as soon as possible. The final deadline for applications is October 15, 2026 at 11:59 pm Eastern.
