Last week, some of our medical students had their first meetings with their Senior Partners. 💚🤝

Through the Senior Partners Program, our students are paired with community volunteer senior citizens, creating opportunities to connect, build relationships and learn from one another.

We’re grateful to the seniors who have volunteered their time to be part of this experience with our students. 🩺

Learning beyond the classroom. 🩺

Recently, our students put their clinical skills into practice during a vital signs workshop at Cape Fear Valley Health.

Working alongside attending physicians, students learned how to accurately assess and interpret vital signs through a series of simulated patient scenarios. They also received hands-on instruction in taking and reading blood pressure manually, and building skills that will be essential throughout their medical training and future careers.

Today, our students and SOM community volunteered at the United Way of Cumberland County Meal Packing Event, helping provide meals to neighbors experiencing food insecurity.

We’re especially grateful to United Way for donating 80 boxes of food to our food pantry, helping ensure members of our community have access to the resources they need.

Thank you to our students for showing up, serving others and making an impact beyond the classroom. 🥣🤝
