For our Building Trades-Carpentry students, a new home under construction in Lancaster will be much more than another class project. It will be their classroom.

The students are beginning work on a residential construction project, located at 623 Newbury Circle, that brings together the college, the City of Lancaster, the It’s a Great Day in the City of Lancaster Fund, Duncan Construction LLC, local developers, contractors and other community partners.

This unique public-private partnership gives students an opportunity to apply their skills on an active construction site while experiencing the coordination, scheduling and problem-solving required to take a house from plans to completion.

𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐒𝐖𝐀𝐓 | 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐖𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦!

SWAT gives students opportunities to get involved, build professional skills and make connections through community service, guest speakers, field trips, networking and plenty of fun along the way.

SWAT is about much more than accounting. Our students have volunteered countless hours throughout our community, including helping with SWIFFLE. We have also brought some fun to campus by hiding eggs for students to find, complete with prizes and candy!

We also love a good field trip! Over the years, SWAT has visited John Deere, the Wisconsin Secure Program Facility in Boscobel, and traveled to Chicago for an accounting seminar and networking opportunities.

And the best part? You don’t have to be an Accounting student to join!
