At Minnesota State Community and Technical College, you can choose from four unique campus experiences, flexible scheduling options and an array of student life activities including athletics and fine arts. We offer more than 70 career and technical programs at our four campuses located in Detroit Lakes, Fergus Falls, Moorhead and Wadena. At M State, students benefit from extensive online options, quality instruction from highly credentialed instructors and personalized small class sizes. By partnering with our communities, the college also provides Custom Training Services and other responsive training programs.

It was a busy week for M State Moorhead's 4th-semester ADN students!💉💙

Students put their nursing skills into action during their first simulation of the semester, caring for a pediatric patient experiencing active seizures related to bacterial meningitis.

They also organized a campus Health Fair covering important topics including digital wellness, depression, melanoma, alcohol awareness, seasonal affective disorder and more!

These experiences showcase the many roles of a registered nurse, from providing safe, high-quality patient care to educating patients and communities and empowering people to make informed decisions about their health.

Way to go, future RNs! 💙

Some difficult news to share today.

After years of careful evaluation and exploring multiple options, M State and the Minnesota State system of colleges and universities are moving forward with plans to close the M State Detroit Lakes campus. The facility is large, aging, and no longer being used at a level that aligns with its operating costs.

We know this news will bring a range of emotions for the many students, employees, alumni and community members who care deeply about the campus and its role in Detroit Lakes.

While our presence in Detroit Lakes may look different in the future, we remain committed to serving Detroit Lakes area students, employers and communities.

M State remains financially strong, and this decision is part of a proactive effort to align facilities with enrollment while continuing to focus resources on academic programs. The campus is not closing immediately; we expect it to remain open until at least summer 2028. The programs currently offered at the campus will continue at M State, with minimal disruption to students.

Congratulations to Jose Perez, a 2025 graduate of M State's Criminal Justice program, who was sworn in as an officer with the Moorhead Police Department on September 14.

Jose celebrated the milestone with his family, M State Criminal Justice Program Coordinator Jeff Nelson, Mayor Shelly Carlson and members of the Moorhead Police Department, including Deputy Chief Ahlfeldt and Chief Helmick.

We're proud to see our graduates put their education into action and begin their careers serving others. Congratulations, Officer Perez! We wish you a successful career and, most importantly, stay safe! 👮 💙
