🏆2026 Ferrum College Sports Hall of Fame

The 2026 Ferrum College Sports Hall of Fame inductees will be formally honored during an on-campus Hall of Fame Ceremony on the morning of Saturday, September 5.

Later that day, they will be recognized at halftime of Ferrum’s home football game against Emory & Henry University, with kickoff at 2:00 p.m. at W. B. Adams Stadium.

🎻🌾 NEW this year at the Blue Ridge Folklife Festival & Arts & Crafts Show!

Ferrum College’s 53rd Blue Ridge Folklife Festival & Arts & Crafts Show returns on October 24 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m, offering an enhanced festival experience for all ages.

This year, we’re especially excited to introduce new artisans, interactive experiences, an Agriculture Student Showcase, and expanded attractions and food options. In the new Arts & Crafts Show, more than 100 artisans will offer handmade jewelry, folk art, woodworking, pottery, textiles, and other unique creations.

Along with these new features, enjoy traditional demonstrations, handcrafted arts, family-friendly activities, music, the Thunder in the Blue Ridge Car Show, horse pulls, c**n dog competitions, and other Appalachian traditions that make the festival a beloved annual event.

The Ferrum College Athletics 40 West Challenge Launch-A-Thon is officially underway!

The Panthers are going for $225,000, and we need you in the game. Kicking off at 7:30 p.m. today, August 27, the challenge runs through September 6, giving Panther fans, alumni, friends, and supporters the opportunity to rally behind our student-athletes and help fuel their second year of NCAA Division II competition. Let’s show the Panthers what it means to have the Ferrum community behind them!

The College begins the 2026–2027 academic year with its highest enrollment in six years, including an increase of more than 20% in returning undergraduate students.

“Adventures in the Galapagos”

Professor Emeritus Bob Pohlad will present “Adventures in the Galapagos” at the Friday science seminar on August 28.

📍Location: Garber Hall 106, Ferrum College (enter from Hart Plaza or the side door by the lake, or near the greenhouse and walk through the lower floor of Garber).
⏰ Date & Time: August 28, 11:30 am - 12:30 pm.
🎟️ All are welcome to attend for free.

In December of 2025, Dr. Pohlad traveled with a group of friends, including Ferrum College faculty, staff, and family members, through the Galapagos Islands off the coast of Ecuador. He will summarize their travel adventure with photos and stories of this amazing group of islands filled with unique animals and plants.

📚 Boone Honors Program Pinning Ceremony

The Boone Honors Program at Ferrum College began its activities for 2026-27 with a pinning ceremony on campus, led by Director Dr. Dan Caston and Assistant Director Dr. Nancy Brubaker.

The honors students learned about leadership opportunities, tutoring jobs available on campus, and a new online dashboard designed to track honors program requirements. They got new pins and photos, as well as enjoying refreshments and conversation.
