We want to share with everyone that a valued colleague, retired occupational therapist, and former professor at the University of Findlay, Dr. Rosalie King, has authored two great reads. We have Rosalie's books, The Great Pirate Adventure!: with Ruffles, Rosie, and Taco (2023) and The Creepy House Adventure: with Ruffles, Rosie, and Taco (2024) on display in the COHP Conference room (see picture below).
Rosalie's mother facilitated her creative pursuits. A favorite activity was to create and compare drawings with her sister, who later became a scenic artist. Her father refused to purchase a television until she was 12 year's old, wanting his children to value reading. Weekly trips to the library fostered Rosalie’s ongoing love of books. That interest engendered a love for writing as well. Inspiration for her books comes from pretend play with grandchildren, her imagination, childhood experiences and an active dream life.
The Great Pirate Adventure!: with Ruffles, Rosie, and Taco
Read about how an ordinary day can turn out very differently. Rosie and her younger cousins, Ruffles and Taco, went on a hike that led to a beautiful ocean beach where they delighted in collecting rocks. But when figures emerged from the fog yelling “AARGH” they were terrified! What happened then was scary, as they were captured and held prisoner on a pirate ship. They were feeling hopeless when dolphins came to their rescue.
The Creepy House Adventure: with Ruffles, Rosie, and Taco
Read about how Ruffles, Taco and their older cousin Rosie came upon an old, abandoned house and were curious about who had lived there and what it was like inside. In the evening, they set out to explore it, knowing their parents wouldn’t approve and that they’d need to tell them about it eventually. It was a VERY scary experience! There were cobwebs, trash and dark shadows everywhere. Things got worse when Taco’s flashlight battery died with only moonlight to guide them. What occurred upstairs was horribly frightening! Despite what had happened Taco convinces the girls to return in daylight to get the water bottles they’d left behind when they’d bolted out of the house. To their surprise they discover that what had scared them wasn’t real. Find out what happened in this creepy house adventure!
